Since the aggression on Bosnia and Herzegovina, thousands of migrants have been living here in Australia. They carried their memories delicately as they found a peaceful life in Australia.
After experiencing horrible trauma, they have tried very hard to rebuild their lives and become a part of the international community. They live simply and graciously with their generosity, nothing short of humbling and are an example of how to keep changing for the better.
It is important that people have the opportunity to learn more about each other and about the events that have shaped the world in which we all live. In the long history of migration, especially since 1992 and the last agression on Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Australian - Bosnian community has made significant contributions to the South Australian community, and this video provides an opportunity to share some of their experiences.
This will be an opportunity to reflect and share with other people the sorrow of personal and community trauma in the past, and reflect on the survival and new lives created, along with achievements here in South Australia.
The Adelaide - Bosnian community would like to share some of the migration and successful settlement individual stories and achievements of the members of the Bosnian community in South Australia on this website. The website is designed for educational purposes and will include narrations of individuals who now call South Australia home, to provide a human face to the stories that may be shared.
It is a part of our history and it is important to remember it, but it is also important to have an opportunity to share it with other people and to reflect on the successful life stories of our community members. This will emphasise the testimonies of the people who have rebuilt their lives despite their previous traumatic experiences.
